MPP Bourgouin calls for mental health and addictions supports desperately lacking in Mushkegowuk-James Bay

QUEEN’S PARK - Families in Mushkegowuk-James Bay are desperately calling on the Ford government to provide mental health and addictions supports.

MPP Guy Bourgouin sent an open letter to Minister Tibollo (below) and shared with the legislature one mom's story of frustration and despair. Without help and out of options, Lyne Levesque from Hearst had to call the police for help with her son who suffers from Schizophrenia.

“Like any mother would do, Ms. Levesque did everything she could help her son. Despite these efforts her son did not receive the support all Ontarians deserve. Right now Ms. Levesque finds herself devastated, alone and discouraged while her son is in detention,” said Bourgouin. “Ms. Levesque and her son, like families across the region, should not have to face a mental health crisis by themselves.”

“I’m not the only one to go through this,” said Levesque. “We feel neglected.”
