Govt rejects covering monitoring devices, lets down Ontarians with Diabetes

QUEEN’S PARK – Essex MPP Taras Natyshak said the Ford government is letting down Ontarians with Type 1 Diabetes by choosing to reject his bill to add Continuous Glucose Monitoring and Flash Monitoring devices to the province's Assistive Devices Program (ADP).

"For Ontarians living with Type 1 Diabetes, ADP coverage for Continuous Glucose Monitoring and Flash Monitoring devices would make life easier and more affordable, removing financial barriers to technology that makes it easier to manage Diabetes, and removes the need for frequent finger pricks," Natyshak said.

"The Ford Conservatives' rejection of this bill lets down Ontarians living with Diabetes.

Doug Ford is condemning more kids to more finger pricks. He’s condemning more people to live with less freedom, and more health emergencies caused by Diabetes. The Ontario NDP will continue to fight to make monitoring devices for people with Type 1 Diabetes more affordable and accessible."
